Johnson Media Launches National Financial Literacy Campaign to Help Millions Understand the Changing Financial Climate

ATLANTA (January 28, 2009) - Johnson Media recently launched a campaign to improve financial literacy and to educate more than 50 million consumers about the rapidly-changing, financial climate. At the start of the campaign will be the New Credit Rules website (www.NewCreditRules.com), which will keep consumers abreast of the most recent practices and policies of credit card companies and banks.

Appearing on ABC's "Good Morning America" on Jan. 28, Johnson Media C.E.O., Kevin D. Johnson, introduced the site as a way to help consumers decipher the "fine print" in credit card agreements and be informed of the criteria used by companies to determine an individual's creditworthiness.

"My experience and research has taught me that protecting and improving your credit score in a volatile economy is critical," said Johnson. "With this campaign, there's an opportunity to better inform consumers of how the credit system works while advocating for fair lending practices by credit card companies."

Johnson, a 29-year-old entrepreneur with a successful business and excellent credit score, said he was compelled to use his marketing, communications, and technology experience to help millions of consumers who are trying to survive the current economic crisis and credit crunch.

In December, the campaign received coverage on CNN and on the front page of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

On Jan. 28, the launch date of NewCreditRules.com, the web site received over 25,000 page views. Johnson Media created the blog-style site as a hub for consumers to get easy-to-understand, insider information on the hidden factors that can influence credit scores and limits and general information about how to maintain good credit.

"NewCreditRules.com provides practical steps on how to maintain good financial habits, especially when it comes to consumer credit," said Johnson.

In addition to the website, Johnson plans to expand the campaign to include educational workshops featuring insights from banking and other financial industry leaders. He believes that the website and related future projects will give consumers the tools and information to improve their financial literacy.
